Championship Showdown IV!

Phoenix International Raceway.

WELCOME TO CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWDOWN FOUR!

Phoenix International Raceway is sold out as it is every season when Pro Truck Challenge comes to this venue and last season P.I.R. was the home of the PTC Open, this season it Championship Showdown IV and tonight the Chandler Cup will go home with either Insanity, Blue Thunder, or High Anxiety!

Michael Elmendorf comes in to the Showdown with the points lead but unlike season past where it was a two truck race for the championship, three teams have a shot for the championship, one his teammate. Michael won his first PTC event, the inagural PTC Open two seasons ago and this season he has one win and has been consistent all season long and tonight he looks to win it all but it won't be easy for sure. He needs to make the final four to ensure no matter what Blue Thunder or High Anxiety does tonight, he still leaves with the Chandler Cup.

Jordon Robson last season won two events in a row and looked strong, but his weakness was being consistent and with a few bad results he missed the Championship Showdown by one point. This season his consistency has improved a lot but his number of wins, four is a single season record. He is only 15 points behind his teammate and he hopes to be the first PTC champion to have the most wins in a season to.

Kyle Fisher story at the begining of the season was simple, a new truck, a new rookie driver, and a championship wasn't really in the forcast for this season. However Kyle is the most consistent truck this season, he earned a win, poles, and last night was second fastest in time trials. So if there is an underdog you would have to say it is Kyle, but he has shown he can race good and he be doing everything he can to win the race and the championship.

Championship Showdown, the event of champions. This is the fourth running of this race and the history behind this event is amazing. The first Championship Showdown Ryan in Cold Fusion took the points lead by advancing to round two and TNT upset the point leader Bloodlust in round one. Phil in Disturbing the Peace went on to win the showdown and Cold Fusion took the championship. Season two Colby's Orange Dodge and Pman-7 came in battling for the championship and Colby left with the Chandler Cup and it was Ryan Roberts defeating Michal Elmendorf in the finals to win the second showdown. Then last season Son of Sam against Super Trooper and Son of Sam wrapped the championship up and Cody Boyce surprised everyone and won the showdown. Tonight the closest time trial field ever, only three drivers in tonight field havn't won a PTC event, everyone is going for the championship and everyone is ready. Live from Phoenix Arizona home of Phoenix International Raceway, its Championship Showdown Four!

Welcome to Championship Shodown IV!

All seats on sale were sold and the fans here tonight are amped to see the best 16 trucks in PTC race hard for the win at a track known for its speed and demands on the trucks. Lets listen in to the PA system here in P.I.R. to see who has won the Jeff Dane Awesome Truck Award.

Ladies and gentleman of Phoenix Arizona are you ready for Championship Showdown!
Fans are standing and yelling, there ready for racing action.
Well now it is time to present the Jeff Dane Awesome Truck Award. The award goes out to the truck with the best paint scheme and overall the most awesome looking truck. This season it is with great honor to announce the winner. The three finalist are Takin Chances, Natrual High, and Rat Patrol. After a close two weeks of voting, the results are in and the winner of the fourth Jeff Dane Awesome Truck Award is Patrick Carroll owner of Natural High!

Season four Jeff Dane Awesome Truck Award Winner; Patrick Carroll Natural High.

Now ladies a gentleman, a special race featuring two trucks from the Monster Truck of America series will do an exhibit, we will now join the voice of MTA for the race calling action.

Hello PTC and MTA fans! We are ready for the MTA exhibition race here at Championship Showdown. Pulling up to the line is MTA Season One champion Blue Thunder II, driven by Cat Candita. Cat was the most consitant competitor in MTA this season, winning two events. Damian Bowers pulls up to the line in the classic Equalizer truck. Equalizer was able to win one race and stayed very close in points throughout the season. They wait for the green light, which they are not used to in MTA. We used a flag man during season one, but will be switching to a timing system for season two. They are staged and ready...THERE IS THE GREEN! Equalizer jumps out of the hole faster, and takes and early lead over the dirt roller. Cat is rock steady as always and begins to close the gap as they hit the first set of cars. Equalizer still has a bit of a lead as they hit the final set of cars and at the finish...EQUALIZER WINS! With a timing system here in PTC, we are able to get the results right away. The tape indicates that by about half a tire, it was Equalizer winning this race.

Equalizer came up just a bit short of the win but we can expect to hear more from Equalizer and Blue Thunder II. Now it is the to kick off Championship Showdown IV with the enterance of all the field. The 16 trucks are all parked over in turn three and four and when the ceremonal command to start engines is given they will roll down the front stretch here at P.I.R. and salute the fans. Looking at the parked trucks lined up by time trial results Juan Perez in Son of Sam is in front of the lead. Last season him and Chad in Super Trooper were focus, this season he is amped inside his truck anxious to get rolling, behind him Kyle Fisher in High Anxiety is all strapped in with hand on the button waiting for the command to start the truck up, he wants to win the Chandler Cup and Championship Showdown, behind him is probably the one driver under the most pressure Michael Elmendorf the point leader, everybody all week been talking bout him, eveyone been asking him questions can he win the cup, and knowing he could be only a few hours away from the biggest prise in monster truck racing. Behind him Stomper driven by the Cody Boyce winner of last season Championship Showdown IV he is in the truck talking with his crew joking and smiles. It was announced early this week he will be returning back to his Sarge truck and all the Boyce racers are going back to the family race team. So Stomper team is seeking a new driver for season five and rumor is Pete Olson drive of the other Stomper chevy in MTA will not be coming to PTC but staying at MTA. Behind him Blue Thunder, Jordon Robson looking to get a win again and have five wins in a season and the Chandler Cup. Now it is time for the command and to give the command will be John Vianikka. John drove Tax Man during season one and two and then served as Director of Competition for PTC and now he will be moving on to a new venture.

Drivers, start you engines and lets get rolling!

The trucks all roar to life and now in gear they travel down the front streach of P.I.R. and the fans are standing, waiving to their driver, taking pictures, and going crazy here in P.I.R. and the drivers you can see some wave back, some just so determine on the race they just looking forward and as the parade of monster trucks get to turn one lets take a look at the pairing for this Championship Showdown.

On pole Juan Perez the defending Chandler Cup Champion he takes on Monster Mayhem. Eight fastest Blitz takes on ninth fastest Emaxx, both trucks have wins and both want to advance. Then Stomper driven by Cody Boyce last season winner of the Championship Showdown takes on the improved Cold Fusion team and Cindy Munds looking for career win number two. Blue Thunder Jordon Robson takes on Pman-7 in what should be a close race. Then High Anxiety the second fastest in time trials takes on Matt Grossman in Takin Chances. Krypt Keeper takese on Radio Active and then Insanity takes on Copperhead Slinger Grossman's second truck and to close up the first round Chad's Super Trooper takes on Hitman.

Now it is time for the first round of racing, the sun is setting, the fans are ready and the first two trucks are getting lined up for Championship Showdown IV!

Round 1.

Juan Perez won the Chandler Cup at this event last season, he won a race this season which means the number one and for the first time in PTC the defending Chandler Cup winner won a race. Now he faces Jeremy Bunting in the Monster Mayhem discussion board truck a battle of Fords both of them are lined up green is out there off over the hill Juan has a lead now over the cars Juan is leading but here comes Jeremy he is going to make this close the final set of cars to the line its Juan Perez by a wheel length over Monster Mayhem.

Ryan Smith in Blitzkrieg is up and he is taking on Glenn Milburn in Emaxx, a battle of teammates green is out both of them over the hill evenly now coming to the first set of cars Ryan with a small lead but Glenn is back on the gas they coming to the line both of them full throttle to the finish and its a close finish we are going to have to wait for the tape the computer is showing however that Ryan won and by tape Ryan just wins by a foot a close race and that is what is expected from tonight since time trials was so close.

This features two popular drivers. Cody Boyce three wins last season looking for win number four and the first win this season has been consistent all season and again is in the Championship Showdown. Cindy Munds sophmore year won an event taking Cold Fusion to victory lane and being the third female racer to win in PTC. Chevrolet vs Chevrolet green is out and Cindy got a jump on Stomper over the hill she lead but maybe a wheel length but don't count out Cody they thunder towards the cars Cody and Cindy giving it their all they fly over the cars and Cindy just holds off Cody to advance in to round two in the Championship Showdown.

The first championship run tonight. Blue Thunder Jordon Robson looking to win five this season and win the Chandler Cup takes on a hard and ready Tyler Anastasio who is looking for a win and rumor is Tyler is leaving Pman-7. Green is out both trucks even over the dirt hill now the first set still even both of them are hard on the gas coming to the last set both of look even over the cars and the line its a close one and wow the computer says Pman-7 beat Blue Thunder! But with this season all computer results that are too close goes to tape to verify the results and we are waiting for the word from the PTC officials and as we wait Blue Thunder and Pman-7 are heading down pit road to the garage area and we see there body language in the trucks they don't know who won either and here comes the word Pman-7 advances to round two! This means its a two truck race between Kyle Fisher and Michael Elmendorf!

Now the second of the championship contenders to run. Kyle Fisher the second fastest taking on Matt Grossman who is looking to advance. Matt wants to win a race and has had a great season but Kyle has been more consistent green! Both of them even on the start now over the cars still even coming to the second set of cars both of them Kyle pulls a little and Kyle wins by half a wheel over Matt Grossman and his championship hunt is still on pace!

Krypt Keeper, one of the most mean looking trucks takes on Radio Active. Finish third in the season final standing and he loves P.I.R. last season at the PTC Open here he finish second and won a race last season, now he wants to win. So to does Robbie looking for his first career win green there off! Side by side the jump over the cars Robbie's front tires bounce David has a lead now but Robbie isnt far behind but I don't think he can make it up and no he doesn't David wins a close race still though as both of them never lifted off the gas but the aditional bounce on Robbie's landing gave David the chance to get a small lead and move on.

Now the championship leader Michael in Insanity taking on Michael Grossman in Copperhead Slinger. Green is out both chevys are off side by side over the first set of cars Insanity Slinger full throttle coming to the second set of cars this is going to be close this is for the championship and its so close we again going to wait for the tape to verify that Insanity is the winner, that is what the computer is showning and the word is yes he has won a close one. So the championship dream is still alive for Michael Elmendorf and this means with Blue Thunder done he could very well be on his way to a championship.

Chad LeGeyt this season finally got a win. He has won in TNT2K, FMTRL, MTU, and now PTC. Super Trooper in the top 16 again takes on Billy Baxter in Hitman who has been quiet all season but has had some great runs and is going to finish better then 24 in the points. Green is out Super Trooper agains Hitman over the hill now they coming to the second set of cars still even both trucks over the cars and its another close finish! The fans here are going nuts cause every race has been so close and its Super Trooper advancing to the next round. The fans here in P.I.R. always get a great event and this year as close as the field was in time trials, we knew every team have been getting ready for this and tonight we're seeing all the teams put their heart out.

Now it is time for the Rod Litzau Rookie Award. This award is handed out to the best rookie of the season and this season there is one rookie that has stood out. Last season it was Jordon Robson in Blue Thunder and the first Rod Litzau award went to Blue Thunder. This season lets give a hand to the winner of the Rod Litzau Rookie Award winner, the driver with one win, two poles, and very consistent, Kyle Fisher in High Anxiety.

Rod Litzau Rookie Award Winner; Kyle Fisher High Anxiety.

Round 2.

Juan team reports of some work being done on the truck after the first run. Blitz no adjustments made on the truck after the first run. So it be interesting to see green light and Ryan Smith big jump he has Juan beat looks like Son of Sam whatever the problem is its not to full power like it had before and Ryan Smith now letting off the gas taking it easy coming to the last set and going to take the win and Juan Perez the defending PTC Champion is over and later tonight the new champion will be crowned but the fans salute the champion as he drives down pit road and he manage to win a race this season and looks forward to next season.

The word was no repairs or adjustments made to either truck in the pits. The 13th fastest against the 12th fastest. This will be close green light there off! Teammates this is going to be close neither one showing any weakness they are coming to the second set over the cars Pman-7 a small advantage and that will do it she advance on to the final four.

For Kyle to win the championship he needs to advance and have Insanity to go out this round against Super Trooper. David wants to win and get in the top 10 green! Kyle vs David there even over the cars now they come to the second set of cars this is going to be a nail biter to the line and David just upset Kyle! David has run strong here and he just ended Kyle's night and Michael is in Insanity right now driving up to the staging area he doesn't know yet but he knows if he advances to the final four he has it locked up.

Well now we are looking at Michael Elmendorf who is on his way on winning the Pro Truck Challenge National Championship Series. Blue Thunder went out in the first round and with Kyle out now he can lose this race and still win the championship but Michael wants to win and possibly is unaware of Kyle lost green is out! Chad gets a good jump but Insanity is right back there over the second set of cars Insanity starts to pull up to Super Trooper here they come in the air Insanity just wins barely with a pass in the air win and ladies and gentleman your season four champion Michael Elmendorf Insanity!

Final Four.

A Pman match, winner will face a Misfit Motors truck green is out! Both are off the hill now coming to the car and Tyler lands crocked and has to turn the truck Ryan Smith not letting up at all and he is going to win and move to the finals of Championship Showdown four!

Well Michael is full aware he has won the championship. He was greeted by lot of people from diffrent teams when he got to his pit area, Kyle already went there to congradulate him and his teammate Jordon was there to and he was happy but now faces David a tuff guy to beat here green is out! There even coming to the first set perfect landing for both now to the second set of cars Insanity is smoking now he still going on over the set of cars Insanity wins but what is that smoke coming from the engine he makes the turn around and something is wrong he is coming to a stop PTC officials are approaching the truck and we see now a trail of fluids on the track. PTC offficials are going to have to clean it up.

Final Race of Season Four.

So Michael broke something in the engine we saw the smoke coming out and then oil started to come out once he made the turn around to pit road to head back to the garage area the engine finally gave up and expire. So Michael is done for the night his truck still parked near the enterance of pit road. So David in Krypt Keeper advances and he is up against Blitz

Ryan Smith vs David Markunas, the winner wins bragging rights for the off season. Green is out Blitz and Krypt are off side by side the engines full throttle the fans are standing as they have been all night cheering on their favorites they still even they come to the second set of cars there even to the line David wins and they rub tires! Blitz in the left lane and David in the right lane came to the center rubbed tires but both of them manage to keep control after they crossed the finish line and David Markunas is being declaired the winner PTC officials are looking at the tape to see if either truck crossed out of their lane or the two just met at the middle and word is Ryan just went over the line when David's truck got close to center but it won't matter David was first across the line he wins and he makes the u turn drives up near the wall and park in front of the fans here at the start finish line here at P.I.R. and the fans are going crazy cheering David on a job well done and now the other 14 trucks coming out for the post race social and meanwhile Insanity is being left towards the entry of pit road. But in the start finish line a special presentation from Joe Samaniego founder of PTC to Michael Elmendorf and his team all gather there.

Thank you fans, what a night of close racing we had and we all thank you for making this weekend so awesome here in Phoenix Arizona. PTC loves coming to this venue every season and this is one of the best races ever. Now without further delay. Michael Elmendorf, your team had put in lots of hours keeping the truck in top shape, your teammate to and it came down to teammates and Kyle and at the end all your hard work paid off and it is an honor to present you and your team the Bob Chandler Cup. Michael Elmendor driver of Insanity congratulations you are the Pro Truck Challenge National Champion!

Michael raises the cup up and the fans salute him and his team on winning the national championship. This season was great with the Emaxx winning the PTC Open at Daytona, Natural High winning the All Star Race, Blue Thunder winning three point events in a row, Colby 36 winning their first event since winning the Chandler Cup, Son of Sam being the first truck with the number one to win an event, Russ Ivy and Ryan Roberts raising the bar on the most wins, Cindy Munds taking Cold Fusion to victory lane, Grave Digger winning the Hall of Fame event and Fred Shafer, Jim Oldaker, and Jack Willman Sr all being inducted to the Hall of Fame. Now tonight Kyle wins the Rod Litzau Award, Natural High takes the Jeff Dane Awesome Truck Award, David Markunas in Krypt Keeper takes Championship Showdown IV and Michael Elmendorf wins the Pro Truck Challenge National Championship Series points standing and takes home the Chandler Cup. Next season promises to be better and we will see you in September.
