10 events ago the Pro Truck Challenge Open started the fifth season of PTC racing. Red Foot left wit the 15 point lead over the field. Today coming into the final event Pman 8 only leads by two and 10 teams have a chance at winning the Bob Chandler Cup. Tonight after all is said and done, one team will celebrate winning the Championship Showdown, and another team will celebrate winning the Chandler Cup and being the Pro Truck Challenge National Champion. Tonight in front of a sold out Bristol Motor Speedway where a new attendance record has been set this is the Pro Truck Challenge National Championship Series Presented by Monster Truck Collectors.com and this is the fifth Championship Showdown!

Welcome to the Championship Showdown we are a few hours away from the start of this big event. This morning a big traffic jam to get here and as fans arrive outside of Bristol Motor Speedway a big festival with food, games, and a chance to talk to the teams that have already race. Inside in the speedway PTC crews were putting the final touches on the track, teams double checking the trucks, and the drivers trying to stay in a routine and not let the championship become a distraction. Out of the then contending for the cup tonight two of them are past champions. Insanity driven by Michal Elmendorf is the first to try and be a back to back champion. Son of Sam won the cup in season III and wants another championship especually since Ellis Racing announce after season six they will not return to PTC racing.

Now lets take a look at the track from above. This is from earyler in the day when the television crew here tonight took a look at the speedway. The cold weather here and a chance of snow has made it where air coverage is not possible but here is a good look at the track. It is a massive Chicago style course and the trucks will start in the center of the straights here in Bristol. One in the back, one in the front straight going the same direction NASCAR goes coutner clockwise. Then in the center of the straight is a jump with four buses lined up in two rows bumper to bumper and they must complete one lap and then we will see who wins and keep their season going.

Now the gates for Bristol Motor Speedway has open and fans start to file in to the coliseum of racing and tonight it is the monster truck coliseum as the entire industry awaits to see who leaves with the cup. With music in the air and fans making new friends and discussing which driver is getting the cup or about other drivers like Ryan Roberts who won Thursday or Russ Ivy winner of last night event the fans are all about monster truck racing and now all drivers in tonight event are in the drivers meeting right now. We were able to get a preview of what will be address in tonight drivers meeting.

Like every PTC event before the race their is a drivers meeting. The meeting usually is an hour and has the teams, PTC officials, and is not open to the media but anyone can come out and discuss about what was said at the meeting. Tonight it is know the PTC officials will be working double time to make sure nothing with the timing, scoring, and the starting light tree goes wrong. With a championship on the line and every second making a difference in a race they will do all they can and with the new computer system their has been no issues at all. Of course with 10 trucks going for the cup, that means 6 are only racing for a win. Those 6 will be racing for the win and the 10 know they can play spoiler. Finally the CS5 badges were given to the teams to put on their trucks. These badgets show that they ran in the Championship Showdown this season and some teams like Grossman has a collection of CS badges. Of course there is a Q&A session as well.

The fans are starting to fill Bristol Motor Speedway and tonight crowd will break previous records for the most to attend a monster truck event. Championship Showdown III holds the record so far but tonight for sure Bristol Motor Speedway will break the record.

A look at tonight event. First of course the pre-race ceremony and then the presentation of the Jeff Dane Award. Then the first round of racing followed by the Rod Litzau Rookie Award. then continue on racing and a special announcement made after round two and a special tribute before the final round and then crowning of a champion.

Now the fans are starting to pack Bristol Motor Speedway and the music play has stopped and on the TV screens placed around the infield of the track now show a video clips of past PTC events and the welcome to Pro Truck Challenge address now plays and the fans know we are at that time! The sun is setting the fans are standing some dressed up showing who their favorite driver is and some wearing other monster truck clothes from trucks back in the 80s, 90s, and now some fireworks goes off in the center of the track in the infield and the fans goes crazy as this years Championship Showdown theme song Saliva "Superstar" plays they know it is time!

Championship Showdown V.

Welcome to Championship Showdown five and tonight this sold out crowd will see a champion be crown but the question is who will be the champion? This is the largest group of trucks coming in to the last event with a chance at the Bob Chandler Cup and Pman 8 only leads by two points and remember five seasons ago it was Shawn Hunsicker that lost the championship in the last event when he went out in round one. Now the fans are about ready to stand up for the national anthem and as they do so in the infield all the drivers are climbing in.

As the speedway is silent and the national anthem is being performed inside the infield the drivers are all in their trucks waiting. They are lined up in points order so as soon as they are given the sign they will come out do a lap around the track and salute the crowd. Jordon Robson in front of the line is sitting with both hands on the wheel waiting for the command to start engines. Behind him in Fire Fighter Tygo Degen is inside Fire Fighter and with Mad Rat and Tygo looks focus. Laura in Liberty Girl gots her eyes closed and seems to be in a relax state inside the truck behind her Mario in Grave Digger he is talking to the crew they did a lot of work this morning and during the Hall of Fame event to get the truck to handle better. Looking down the line you see each driver acting different. Some seem more relax then others and some more focus and waiting for the command. They now finish the national anthem lets go trackside for the ceremonies.

Ladies and gentleman, it is now time for the ceremonial command to start engines. Usually this task is for the members of the new Hall of Fame class. But tonight you the fans get this honor since you the fans have made what PTC is today and for your support of monster truck racing. So everybody join me on three. 1....2...3. DRIVERS! START YOUR ENGINES!

The drivers have started up their trucks and now out of the darnkess of the infield to the bright lights of Bristol Motor Speedway they roll out to a shower of flashbulbs from cameras all around the speedway as Pman 8 now Fire Fighter, Liberty Girl, Grave Digger, Son of Sam, Radio Active, Super Trooper, and the remaining trucks roll out and do one lap around the track. Kids are lined up along the fence on top of the wall here at Bristol looking at the drivers in their trucks take a lap. Some drivers are waving at the crowd enjoying this moment some still look tense and determine to get racing this is the one night every team wants to be in the Championship Showdown.

Ladies and gentleman, the starting line up of the fifth Championship Showdown!

On Pole Son of Sam Juan Perez looking to win the cup but he faces the hot Grave Digger which spun in his time trial run if he has it handling good he can be spoiler and remember he is only nine points behind but the disadvantage for digger is being 16 to maximize his point he must advance because no matter what round he goes out he will be listed last in that round due to being 16th.

Next up is Krypt Keeper defending champion of the Championship Showdown and he will take on Hitman Billy Baxter.

Then its Blue Thunder second PTC Championship Showdown apperance for that truck but first time with Jessup behind the wheel and he will take on Fire Fighter looking to pull an upset and gain on Pman 8.

Radio Active and Heatwave will take on each other and Heatwave needs a lot to happen for his championship hopes to come true.

Then Insanity second in time trials take on third in points Laura in Liberty Girl and this one will end one of the two championship hopes.

Then Pman 8 taking on Matt Grossman in Takin Chances.

Super Trooper lead the points for the most weeks in a row and still have a chance he will take on Bullet Proof Chris has been hot and looking to pull an upset in the first round and contend for another win.

Now the trucks all enter the infield except the first two it is time to go racing here at Bristol but first time to see who wins the Jeff Dane Awesome Truck Award!

Championship Showdown, Round 1. Bristol, TN.

Son of Sam taking on Grave Digger. What a first round race because one of these trucks will see his chances at the Chandler Cup go up. The two are line up Digger in the back straight and Son of Sam in the front. The fans are standing this will be close green! The two are off and camera flashes goes off all over as the two trucks make way to the turn they look even Digger is in turn 3 & 4 and Son of Sam is in turn 1 & 2 as they come to the bus jump they still look even looks like the Digger team possibly got it handling better as they are give Son of Sam a run for his money remember season four first race of PTC Open Digger 16th defeat overall pole winner Son of Sam here they come to the last jump this is going to be close Sam or Digger who moves on....Son of Sam barely hold off Digger and Digger is eliminated and will finish 16th in the final event of the season after such a strong season and this also eliminates Heatwave because now Pman can finish as low as 15th only and even if Heatwave wins and 15th for Pman 8 he will only tie and Pman holds the tie breaker. So now the 10 teams for the championship is down to eight and Digger heads towards the pits but he stops before entering Mario comes out waves to the crowd and the fans goes crazy. He had a great season setting the winning record and winning half of the race weekends. What a season for Mario.

Krypt Keeper against Hitman this one has no championship contention but the winner will face Son of Sam green! Both trucks are off Keeper with a good jump on the start as he makes it to the turn he seems to be pulling ahead slightly the Hitman isn't too far behind as both of them jump the bus but Hitman loses control after the jump and he comes to a stop almost rolling it over. but this will make it easyer for Krypt Keeper as he comes and takes the win and will face Son of Sam in the next round.

Well this one will have championship implications written all over. Blue Thunder against Fire Fighter green! Thunder has a lead on the start he got Fire Fighter in a bad spot now as they come to the the turn Blue Thunder can be a big spoiler but here comes Tygo the Figer Fighter is fighting back as they both come out of the turn towards the bus jump it is tie so far now the last turn this is going to be close lot on the line here they come out of the turn no one in Bristol is sitting every one is standing at the line the camera flashes goes off as both trucks fly over the buses and Blue Thunder has ended the championship hopes of Tygo! Fire Fighter season is over and now Pman 8 Jordon Robson now has seven trucks contending for the cup with so far one out of the first round.

Radio Active took on Heatwave and defeated Heatwave. Heatwave Chandler Cup chances were done once 16th place Digger went out. We are now halfway through round one and the second half of round one starts with a mega match up.

Insanity the defending point champion takes on Liberty Girl and here is an update on the points. With the trucks elimated so far all being lower the Pman 8 in time trials, Insanity and The Monster Blog are out of point contending. Insanity would need Laura to win to keep his chances alive. So currently contending for the Championship is Pman 8, Liberty Girl for now, Son of Sam, Radio Active, and Super Trooper. Both Trooper and Radio Active need Laura to win to keep their hopes for the cup alive and now Liberty Girl is lined up. Insanity is lined up green! They are off Insanity and Girl are off heading to the turn and Insanity in the turn is pulling away he got a great size lead now on Laura this isn't good for Laura as she now comes over the bus and Insanity is entering the final turn it looks like it will be two contending for the cup in round two as it will be Son of Sam vs Pman 8 for the Chandler Cup and Insanity wins Laura season is over and so is the championship run for Radio Active and Super Trooper.

Well as you see on next up in the point lead Jordon Robson and he now exit the pit area and head to his starting line and so to does Matt Grossman in Taking Chances. With only Son of Sam left here is the point scenario. Jordon advances to round two and once in round two all he has to do is advance to the final four because no matter what happens there isn't enough points for Son of Sam to make up the difference. So it's all on Jordon he advances then Son of Sam knows his chances are slim but don't count Grossman. The two trucks are lined up green! They are off Jordon with a jump as they come to the turn the fans all around are standing this is going to be important as Jordon leads Grossman and now the two come out of the last turn and it will be Jordon still with the lead over Matt and Jordon looking for a win no wins this season rare for him now the final turn look at Matt he is closing the gap it appears they come out of the turn Grossman is making this look close at the bus jump the line Grossman wins! The crowd is stunned as Son of Sam fans celebrate and Pman 8 fans are in shock and Grossman fans are happy to see Grossman advance to round two! The championship just took another turn and this time it is all on Son of Sam hands. if Bullet Proof and The Monster Blog pull upsets in this round then Son of Sam will have the point lead at the end of round one and it will be over! The next two races are going to be critical since as of right now Jordon is listed as 11th place. This is PTC Championship Showdown and it is coming down to the wire and the fans here cannot believe it.

If Super Trooper is upsetted by Bullet Proof. Then Pman 8 will be listed as 11th and then he only gains 10 points putting him at 179 points. Then Son of Sam if he is to lose in round two will be 5th since he took pole meaning he will gain 23 points putting him at a tie with Pman 8 and tie breaker in the Showdown goes to results and Son of Sam will win the cup by a margin of 0 points but by tie breaker. So Jordon hopeful Super Trooper wins and Juan wants Chris to win and move on green! This is more then Super Trooper vs Bullet Proof this is to decide the Championship they are even the two trucks as they come to the turn both of them look even no sign of weakness now the two approach the bus jump and it is close no one has a lead over the bus the final turn Chris has been good lately but can Super Trooper pull it off here they come to the last turn and jump Super Trooper is listed as winner but that was close and with this being the Showdown PTC Officials will be looking at the tape as well. That was close we called Super Trooper because the computer has been correct all season but knowing what is on the line officials taking a closer look and they confirm Super Trooper holds out Bullet Proof and now Pman 8 moves to 10th and will gain 11 points meaning he is now at 181 points!

Well now is another critical race to the cup Bloodlust against Monster Blog.com truck. Monster Blog.com wins Pman stays in 10th but lose and Pman 8 moves to 9th and gains 12 points meaning 182 but that still means Son of Sam only needs to advance to the next round. Green the two are off Bloodlust leads so far on the start as they enter the turn this is what Pman 8 needs and now they come to the bus jump still Bloodlust but not much over The Monster Blog.com and now here they come to the last turn this is it Bloodlust vs Monster Blog.com at the line over the buses Bloodlust advances and now Pman 8 sits at 182 points but Son of Sam is going to run in the next round and it will be over.

Now it is time for the Rod Litzau Rookie Award and this year was very close no Rookie won an event but we still have a winner and the winner of the Rod Litzau Rookie Award is Adam Tereska driver of the Bloodlust Tank. Adam is the first driver in a tank to win the award. Congratulation to Adam, the Bloodlust Tank team, and wish you the best next season.

Championship Showdown, Round 2. Bristol, TN.

Well now the championship will end after this run but who will win it? If Son of Sam wins he earns championship number two for the team. If he loses to Krypt Keeper he then loses the championship by two points. The two trucks in the staging area Krypt Keeper is ready now Son of Sam is ready Jordon with his team behind Pitwall is watching, almost all the teams watching they know the championship will be decided NOW! They are off they got the green and it's Son of Sam with a lead over Krypt Keeper as they enter the turn the fans are cheering either one of the trucks with different reasons why to cheer the two come out of the turn it is still Son of Sam leading over the bus jump now they enter the final turn Krypt Keeper is carrying lot of speed in the turn he is gaining ground. Keeper is gaining ground it appears the two are halfway through the turn and they look even the fans know this they are getting louder here they come out of the turn Keeper leads! Krypt Keeper leads out of the turn to the bus jump Keeper now Sam at the like Krypt Keeper wins! Krypt Keepers wins and Jordon Robson in Pman 8 is the Pro Truck Challenge National Champion!

Keeper a second half come back and wins by a wheel width over Son of Sam and as soon as Keeper won Jordon Robson and his team is now celebrating that didn't win a race this season but it is nothing to be consern about they are champions and will be getting the Chandler Cup!

Son of Sam is heading to the infield but the fans are standing and cheering how close and now Juan stops the truck and waves to the crowd and you know he would love to be champion but he loves racing for the fans more so and now he is done for the night and Jordon Robson is your 5th driver to win a championship.

Radio Active defeats Blue Thunder and will face Krypt Keeper in the next round.

Matt Grossman upsets Insanity and moves to the final four.

Bloodlust defeats Super Trooper and with that all 10 trucks that had a shot at the cup are done for the night the final four will be four non championship contenders.

Well the closest championship finish in the history of PTC, two points is all that seperates Jordon Robson and Juan Perez and now Juan goes to Jordon shakes his hand and wish him a great off season and well wishes. This is no doubt a big deal for Jordon. Third season in PTC had tied for most wins of all time, Rookie Award winner in season three, contended for the cup last season but lost to teammate Michael Elemndorf, the two being the only teammates to win in same weekend not once but twice, and now like his friend he is getting the Bob Chandler Cup.

Next season is 2009 January from Chicagoland Speedway the PTC OPEN! 48 trucks, 1 winner, 15 points and every point matters.

Well the announcement has been made. The new attendance record for an monster truck event. 165,879!

Championship spoiler Krypt Keeper defeats Radio Active and looks to be the first driver to win the Showdown two times in a row.
